Morocco uneasy over Spanish visit - 05 Oct 07 Spain's King Juan Carlos is making a controversial trip to the country's enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla in northern Morocco. Rabat is unhappy about the visit, saying the two cities belong to Morocco. It's even recalled its ambassador to Madrid in protest. The Spanish government won't back down, and argues the two cities have belonged to Spain for more than 400 years.

Morocco and the Polisario launch fresh talks - 07 Jan 08 Moroccan officials will meet the pro-independence Polisario Front later on Monday for a new set of UN-sponsored talks over the disputed Western Sahara. Two rounds of negotiations last year produced little progress in ending the 32-year conflict. And diplomats warn that failure to clinch a deal could lead to renewed fighting.
